Symbian OS goes open source!!!

Big news today, Symbian is now “giving away” its code!

This move is a smart one, because it will attract more developers to Symbian, and thus accelerate the growth of the most popular mobile operating system.

Lee Williams (from Symbian Foundation) said: “This is the largest open source migration effort ever.”  “It will increase rate of evolution and increase the rate of innovation of the platform.”

Source code will be available to download as of 14.00h GMT from Symbian’s website.
