Nokia C6 hands on preview
Hi there! Are you ready for another hands on preview, this time about brand new Nokia C6? If yes, join me after the break.
In case you don’t know, this device packs:
- 3.2 inch resistive touchscreen, 360 x 640 pixels
- full QWERTY keyboard
- 5MP camera with autofocus, LED flash
- WiFi, GPS
- runs Symbian s60v5
If you look the device from the front, you’ll see 3 buttons (call, hang up, menu), big touchscreen and secondary camera.
From the right hand side, there are volume keys, slide key for locking/unlocking and a dedicated camera key.
The left hand side is pretty unpopulated, and you’ll only find microSD slot here:
To top is the place where you’ll notice 3,5mm audio jack and microUSB port.
C6′s bottom side accommodates charger pinhole and lanyard hole.
Of course, one of its best features is the physical QWERTY keyboard, which is a joy to use!
Right next to the keyboard, there’s a very usable D-pad:
Naturally, camera is located on the back side of this fine cell.
Don’t get your hopes up, it’s not Symbian^3…
It runs Symbian^1, S60v5, and it’s working quite fine. I LOVE the homescreen and its widgets, and I find it extremely useful – so much information at a glance!
The only thing that bothered me was the time needed to unlock the phone when you slide the keyboard – it took ages! Not literally, but it did take 3 seconds – WAY too long… I really hope a new version of firmware will fix this.
There are some nice preinstalled apps, such as Office document viewer (you have to pay if you want to edit/create files), PDF viewer, ZIP support, and of course, OVI Store…
You’ll have to trust me on this one – didn’t have time to take many pictures – the camera quality is as expected – nothing more, nothing less. It’s comparable to N97 Mini and similar devices, so don’t expect to shoot in the dark.
To be honest, I really like the C6. It’s price is absolutely unbelievable, especially when you compare it to N97 Mini. Same features, similar design, significantly lower price – it’s a no-brainer!
I think this will be very popular device, especially in Serbia and other markets that are not economically strong…
As usually, I’ve made a video hands-on preview. But before that, hit the TWEET button to share this post…
Make sure you watch it in HD, it’s better for your eyes…
